First Holy Communion is a beautiful step in a child’s faith journey — the first time they receive Jesus in the Eucharist, the true Body and Blood of Christ, during Mass. Through our schools and parish preparation programs, children learn about God’s love, the life of Jesus, and the meaning of the Mass in ways they can understand and embrace. This is more than just a milestone — it’s an invitation for children and their families to grow closer to Christ and become more deeply part of our Catholic community. We are here to walk with you every step of the way as your child prepares to meet Jesus in this most sacred sacrament.

We warmly welcome all public school students preparing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. To provide greater flexibility for families, you may choose to attend the required Reconciliation and First Communion preparation events with either the St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School group or the Ascension Catholic Elementary School group, whichever best fits your schedule.
Please note that attendance at all required preparation events is mandatory in order to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Once you have decided which school sessions you will attend, please email me, Terri Perruzza, at tperruzza@hamiltondiocese.com with your selections so I know which group to expect you in and can ensure you receive all the information and preparation needed throughout your journey.
